Pushing at the limits of conventional image making, principled and irreverent at once, Charlie Engman is a photographer, director and art director based in Brooklyn. He works from bodies, gesture and the strangeness that surfaces when an image is pushed slightly too far, drawing on a degree in Japanese and Korean studies at Oxford and a training in modern dance. He is a recognised figure in AI-generated imagery, treating the medium as a set of constraints to be tested rather than a finish to be applied. His work has appeared in AnOther, Dazed, Garage, POP and T: The New York Times Style Magazine. Commercial clients include Prada, Marni, Hermès, Kenzo, Nike and Stella McCartney. He has been Art Director at Collina Strada since 2019.
